Sporysh («bliznyaty», «dvoynichki»)

A popular product among the peasants during haymaking or harvesting was Sporysh, consisting of two, three, sometimes four pots. He served to deliver cooked food to the field. One of the options for such a "field" dishes presented in the museum. The clay vessel from two small pots fastened with a handle was made by the master of the pottery artel "Chyrvony Horn" Dorofey Alexandrovich Zelenkevich, a resident of the village Ekiman of the Polotsk district. Despite the rather simple purpose of Sporysh, its name has a deeper meaning. Originally the term "knotweed" denoted a double grain or a double spike, a symbol of fertility. In the mythology of the Eastern Slavs, Sporysh is the spirit of the harvest, endowed with the ability to provide "dispute", that is harvest and wealth, happiness in general.
