Sheepskin coat

The clothes of the peasants were simple and functional, made of materials produced in the household of almost every family. The museum exhibits winter outerwear - sheepskin sheaths with fur inside which were worn by both men and women. Women's light brown sheepskin coat is decorated with black fur on the bottom edge on the sleeves and patch pockets. A pattern of skin fragments is applied on the upper back. On both cases there are clasps in the form of leather buttons and loops. The clothes are decorated with embroidery with multi-colored threads made in the technique of "goat" (zigzag lines). In addition to aesthetic value embroidery also served as a guardian. On the wedding day various ceremonies were performed with the use of a sheepskin casing which promised prosperity and well-being to the future family.
