The French gun "An XIII"

During the Patriotic War of 1812 the territory of Polotsk became a battlefield. The exposition features the portraits of commanders, weapons, military equipment and clothes. One of the most interesting exhibits is the gun "An XIII". That kind of pistol was produced on the manufactories of Saint Etienne, Maubeuge, Versailles, Essen and was used by all the Napoleon cavalry corps, from the light-weight corps (hunters, hussars, lancers) to those of the line (cuirassiers, carabineers, grenadiers, dragoons and horseriding artillery). In total, there were 300,000 units produced. It was inspired by the Model 1786 and is a simplified version of the Model "An IX". The front band in An XIII is fixed with a screw to the side lock, so the shortened stock gets it more handy.
