Nikolay Makarovich PETRENKO (1919-1997)
Born in Gomel region. In 1936 he graduated from pre-university courses, in 1940 — from Minsk Pedagogical Institute. Participant of the Great Patriotic War. In peacetime, he worked in various management positions in Gomel Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast. Since 1960 — a teacher, a deputy director of Polotsk Pedagogical School. Author of several textbooks. Amateur composer, author of more than 300 songs, since 1980 headed the club of amateur composers in Polotsk. Winner of competitions of amateur composers.
He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, medals.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Polotsk was conferred in 1995.
