Afanasiy Vasil’yevich GLEBOV (1902-1997)

Afanasiy Vasil’yevich GLEBOV (1902-1997)
Born in Smolensk region. Since 1938 he worked as a deputy chief of the car section at Polotsk station. During the war in evacuation he was a car master, inspector of a car unit at the Stalingrad front. He was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labour for exceptional merits in providing transportation for the front and the national economy in 1943. From 1944 to 1972, he worked as the head of the 7th car platform, then as a foreman of the technical inspection station at Polotsk station.
He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Hammer and Sicklegold Medal, twice the Honorary Railwayman Badge, and medals.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Polotsk was conferred in 1979.
