Bronze axe

About 4000 years ago the Bronze Age began in Belarus, a period one of the peculiarities of which was the use of metal tools for economic and military purposes. For the manufacture of tools used copper and bronze alloys. In the Local History Museum of Polotsk you can get acquainted with such a product of ancient masters as a bronze axe. The subject dates from II – beg. I millennium BC and refers to the artifacts of the early period of the Bronze Age. The axe for such a tool at one end was bent in the form of a knee and split. The axe was attached to the axe with leather straps. For a more stable position of the axe the side projections served as flanges. The object was found and transferred to the museum-reserve funds by Mikhail Mikhailovich Voronko, a resident of the city of Novopolotsk.
