Development of the Pioneer and Komsomol movements

Polotsk Komsomol organization was created one of the first in modern Belarus at the end of 1918 - early 1919. In the first days after its registration, the second floor of the building in the center of the city was handed over to the Komsomol members together with all the equipment. That was the first Komsomol club in the city. Professional technical schools for youth were organized.
In the first half of 1921, a sub-department for work among children and adolescents was created at the Labor Committee on the initiative of the Komsomol members. The following year, the first pioneers appeared in Polotsk, they published their newspaper “Pionerskaya Iskra”. By November 1924, 29 pioneer detachments had already been organized, which united almost one and a half thousand young inhabitants of Polotsk.
The collection of documents and photo documents reflecting the development of the Komsomol and Pioneer movements in Polotsk was transferred to the museum in 1983 by Albert Izrailevich Kartus, one of the first Polotsk Komsomol members.
