Polotsk Special Music School. The Polotsk Folk Music School for Adults. September 1920.

Since 1919 in Polotsk, the music school of the first stage began its work. It was the first professional institution in the city, where specialists with secondary musical education were trained. His first director was M. Matison. The school had a great popularity in the city, so the students were accepted on a competitive basis. The quality of musical education made it possible to reorganize this school into a state special school of the first level.

In 1920 the First Polotsk Folk Music School for Adults was created in the city headed by V. Levitski and his deputy A. Palchevskaya. The work of this institution was aimed at creating musical and dramatic collectives. As a result, four amateur art groups appeared in Polotsk whose participants performed at city events.
